What to send us in an order extract
A practical checklist for the fields that make average order value trend reporting accurate on the first pass.
Clean inputs shorten the first pack by days. At minimum we look for order identifier, order datetime, net merchandise value, and a category or department code. Channel, fulfilment type, and promo flags turn a good pack into a sharp one.
Exclude pure gift-card loads if they inflate value without reflecting merchandise intent — or flag them so we can chart them separately. Wholesale and staff orders deserve the same courtesy.
If category codes are inconsistent across years, tell us before we draw. We would rather spend a day mapping codes than publish a misleading mix stack. A short data dictionary in plain English is worth more than a perfect spreadsheet theme.
